Jim Mora Jr. going to Hartford.
DomingoOrtiz {l Wrote}:VTech fired Fuente. Odd timing as they won last week. Why didn't they do it after they lost to us?
Dick Rosenthal {l Wrote}:Va Tech is a spent force. It had a nice little run that was aided by the fact that (a) the baby rapists were late to the game in understanding how much talent comes out of the Hampton-Newport and Southside areas in particular and Virginia in general; (b) UVA getting on its high horse and through its own arrogance and stupidity blowing up its relationships with the Hampton-Newport and Southside area high school coaching mafia even though the most successful Cav teams drew most of its high end talent from those regions (Terry Kirby, Herman Moore, James Farrior, etc.).
Now, the Baby Rapists are all over the Old Dominion--Clemson, Notre Dame and whole host of SEC schools are harvesting from Hampton-Newport/Southside and even NoVa, which punches considerably above it weight between the powerhouse programs of Fairfax and Loudon Counties (Robinson, Centerville, Chantilly, Ashburn, Stone Bridge) and the Catholic schools is being harvested by Penn State, Ohio State, ND and the SEC. There just isn't enough leftover talent or talent that wants to stay at home for Tech to be what it was in the late 90s through the Aughties. That isn't to say Va Tech should suck, but even in a shitty ACC, no one should be expecting them to be a consistent 10 game winner. In some ways, they are the homeless man's Miami Hurricanes, who built their dynasty harvesting from a talent-rich area that no one knew about. The Miami dynasty was ultimately doomed the minute the Notre Dames, Michigans, and Ohio States of the world began pulling large numbers of players out of Florida* with the difference being that there was so much talent they got by for longer than Va Tech could with its more limited talent supply. Fuentes is a mediocre coach, but no one who comes in is going to be able to exploit the demographics that built Beamer's program.
*West Virginia's apex under Don Nehlen in the mid 80s/early 90s and its last faltering gasps as a power in the early 2000s was entirely the product of Doc Holliday's recruiting pipeline from South Florida. West Virginia was ultimately killed off when everyone else started fishing in the same recruiting pond and when Holliday left for head coaching jobs.

According to FootballScoop, UW has 4 candidates they’re vetting:
Justin Wilcox (Cal HC): 3-6 in 2021
Jeff Hafley (BC HC): 6-5
Kalen DeBoer (Fresno HC): 8-3
Bryan Harsin (Auburn HC): 6-4

*i don't think hafley is a candidate for washington

Third and foot inside the 10 in the first half was the dumbest playcall of the game. Just pick up the first or do a playaction. They were abusing our o-line at that point.

Last thing I see Hafley doing is uprooting his family to take over a dormant program in the PAC-12.

Maybe Dan is homesick to be closer to his NH roots now after his adventures in the south land. Given his past associations with HCRD, maybe he’d join the BC staff as OC as long as he doesn’t have to recruit, which he reportedly abhors.

HJS {l Wrote}:You are basically describing Columbo. Would love to give an alum top dollar to fix our mess while rehabbing his career under a coach who can recommend his return to the NFL. One caveat is that I would check in with Pete Kendall before making any hire. He’s a good source given his unique experience.

How do we know that it’s applebaum and not the players he’s coaching?

hansen, for the next two games, the players Matt Applebaum and Jeff Hafley are coaching, are still Addazio's players. All "we-don't-have-enough-information-to-know-how-good-Hafley's-staff-is-at-recruiting-yet" bets are OFF next year. 2022, put up or shut up coach Hafley (and also Applebaum.)
I'd like to remind everyone, 1997 and 1998, BC sucked. 1999 they were good again, 's players arrived.
