We could have Coughlin, Parcells, Belichek, Saban and Ted Lasso as coaches and this team would still suck. All this game did was confirm that Spaz' major malfunction was his inability to convince D1 athletes to sign on for a free BC education. Since only Spaz has left, we still suck.

That being said, we all know how this season plays out. We will receive an absolute dry bumming from FSU, Clem and USC, and whichever of UNC and VPI bring their A game. As for the rest, even Spaz came within a Nospace baby maker hair of winning most of those games. My hope is that Daz' coaching acumen, coupled with a now-functioning program and improved player moral, will lead to wins over Army and NMSU, and a split vs Wake, Cuse, NCSU and MD. 6-6, bowl eligible, morale is up, new recruits happy, 2015 recruits see that the program is going in the right direction, yet still plenty of room for new talent to get on the field quickly.

Wait, are you saying you had an issue with him letting the ball hit the ground and watching it roll an extra 20 yards, often leading to drives starting around the BC 10 yard line? Stop complaining!

Pretty much called it on the nose. We could very easily have been knocked out in the first half, Villanova did everything in their power to keep us in it and our size advantage turned the game in the 2nd half.

We suck, but the good news is there is enough garbage on our schedule that we have a 50/50 shot of getting to 6-6 and bowl eligibility.

like others have covered there was the good the bad and the ugly out there yesterday

the Good
HALF TIME ADJUSTMENTS when was the last time that happened
Chase looked like a legit QB again, he should spend the next couple years holding a clipboard on Sundays
Williams running strong, until the hamstring tweek
Staff saw enough in Woford to move to another position, other then bouncing players back and forth between OL and DL when did :spaz2 ever do that?

The Bad
spent the whole first half up in QQ saying 'their FCS'ers are better then our FCS'ers'
soft area about 10 yards downfield over the middle that 'Nova kept dropping ball into
Runing game sans Williams

the Ugly
Crowd announced at 32k? might have been a little inflated
Sweet Caroline/Buttercup gawd i hate those fucking songs
all of the introductions, seemed like there was one every timeout, when they introduced the medical staff and the got to you know who, the 3 of us all said at the same time KEVORKIAN

Eh, that's probably how a split against an fcs team should look cause the fbs team should just maul them in theory and w/o checKing I think 5 our so first down passes were in the second half. I remember there was only one in the first quarter. What bothered me was how untailored to the personnel the first half play calls were. Chase wasn't going to run so why bother with the read option business. But at least they stopped doing it.

It seems like last year, we wouldn't score in the second half...yesterday was very refreshing.

Anybody notice the big poster boards that Bordner was holding to signal in the play call? Each side had 4 photos and one of the poster boards had a picture of a chalupa. Nice shout out to Pedro.

The Good...
-Bobby Wolford can catch and run and get first downs which is awesome and he's only been a fullback for a grand total of two weeks.
-Chase and Andre although I think Andre could have been better. We NEED him to be healthy.
-Patchan handled the blindside on the blitz well and Harris Williams looked like our best lineman.
-Run Defense in second half (see next person)
-KPL. He was a beast.
-Asprilla. He made some good tackles and made a good play on his interception.

The Bad...
-Stats made the OLine look good. They weren't.
-Our safeties are atrocious.
-Special teams...In the punting game especially but hey, Freese can kick touchbacks now...
-Wide Receivers not named Alex Amidon although they didn't get many snaps.

The Pleasently Surprising...
-So much more energy on the bench from the head coach to the water boys.
-Bryce Jones wasn't bad.
-Josh Keyes is better than Steven Daniels
-When we decided to stop the run, we could stop the run.

The Dissappointing...
-Ryan Day's play calling (conservative as hell)
-Kaleb Ramsey / Steele Divitto / Spiffy Evans .... Guys I expected to be big but weren't.
-didn't blow them up.

The Personel...
-Parsons and Giacone are on the field on pretty much every play.
-The substitution of Keyes for Daniels changes the tempo of the D.
-Dom Williams and not Justin Simmons is the third safety.
-Chase was with the captains for the coin flip. And Edebali absolutely deserves to be a captain. Definitely a leader on the sidelines.
-Did Marcus Grant play???? I only saw Crimmins, Amidon, Spiffy, and Jackson play receiver.

Redshirts Burned...
-RB: Tyler Rouse (the lowest rated incoming recruit)

My Overview...
-Cant get too excited but have to be happy. Game 1, new staff, new era, 1-0. It's all you can ask for. This group of guys needed to win and find themselves in the process. I think they did that in the second. The tempo of the defense picked up a bit and the team started playing with more emotion. I'm looking forward to friday night. Honestly, I'm expecting a ten point loss if we play with the same offensive philosophy.

How did we all feel about the no names? Personally, I thought the uniforms looked good. They were traditional, more maroon than red, and simple.

7 FCS (D-1AA) teams beat FBS (D-1) teams the first week of football. I'm hoping BC played a better FCS team and that there are some positive takeaways. At the very least, it's good that a talent-diminished BC team wasn't the 8th team to lose one of these matchups.

Go Eagle.

I remember BC played Nova in the 60s when BC had Frank "Red" Harris at QB and Villanova killed BC. They were big in the line too. The stands were made of wood and green then and the team came out from Roberts Center.

BC back then wore all gold painted helmets with no maroon stripe in the middle.

Defense a work in progress and offense needs to get less predictable at times.

To go 6 and 6, Retigg, Amidon and Williams all have to stay healthy and I am not too sure about Williams. Hamstrings tend to be those nagging injuries that never really heal until after the season. So much for a breakout season for Miller, he did not even play. The lack of other receivers is really stunning. Why did Coleman leave?

The good news. UMass got crushed.

I never saw grant. At WR I saw Amidon, Crimmins, Spiffy & Jackson. Unless we are keeping him under wraps, he must be very bad because the WRs that did play, other than Amidon, are terrible.
I didn't see Miller either.
