The thought of edm getting to finals is sickening. Defense sucks, goalie mediocre, 5v5 not good and could only run 3 lines last period. A product of 2 players and gift power plays

The league office and the Board of Governors are desperate to have a Canadian team hoist the Cup--especially since this is the 30th anniversary of the last time it happened. With that said, to your point, Edmonton is a garbage team and last night's result is the perfect example of everything that is wrong with them and why it will take WWE-style cheating from the officials to drag them through the second round.

On paper, now that the Bruins aged like red wine in a sauna in the first round and went gently into the good night, Toronto should be the team that emerges from the East. The goaltending situation is problematic, and Bobrovsky is one of two goalies in the East who is capable of stealing a series by himself (the other was Shesterkin), but even still, if Toronto gets slightly better than average goaltending they should beat Florida. But of course, because it is Toronto, the odds are that they will fuck it up badly is very high. Ilya Samsonov looked tight and broken in Game 1--like he knows with Bobrovsky in the other net he has zero margin for error. Murray is probably not coming back until next week from his concussion and he sucks now anyway--2016 and 2017 were a long time ago. If you are the Leafs, you might want to consider putting Woll out on the ice and see if you can't catch lightning in a bottle. He is unlikely to do worse than Samsonov's .850 save percentage.

And of course, the Devils got destroyed last night. Granted, they got destroyed at home twice by the Rangers, but I think this is a different situation. The Rangers situation was probably the result of the Devils figuring out what playoff hockey is like and let's face it, Brind'amour is a much better coach than Gallant and while the Canes roster looks like cobbled together dogshit, they actually play the system Brind'amour wants to play.

Well, I guess we are about to find out if the Canes are as gutless and soft as the Rangers because that is the only way the Devils can climb out of this hole.

Every Devil game is a blowout by one side except one. Oddest playoff run I have seen.

Well, I guess we found out last night that the Canes are not as gutless as the Rangers. In other news, Joe Woll will take to the ice to try and stave off a sweep of the Leafs by the Miami Pussycats. He wasn't bad in this relief appearance in Game 3. Was basically left hung out to dry on the OT goal by a D that refused to actually defend anyone.

And Joe Woll comes up big in extending the Maple Leafs season for at least one more night, stopping 24 of 25 shots in a 2-1 win.

The Devils take soooo many dumb penalties, Didnt kill them in the regular season when they were 4th in the league killing penalties, but will kill you in the playoffs.

Woll did everything he could for the Leafs tonight. 40 saves/ a .930 save percentage, but at the end of the day, the Leafs are going to Leaf.

The Dallas Stars vs the Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes vs the Florida Panthers is the perfect encapsulation of the ruin Garry Bettman has visited upon the NHL. The TV ratings for both semi-finals will be lower than a Tuesday night on HGTV and no matter the combo that emerges for the Final we will probably be looking at ratings that approach WNBA-level awfulness. But at least there are Four Sunbelt teams--two of whom have good attendance (Carolina and Vegas--Dallas is a very easy ticket to get most nights) and one who makes BC basketball look like it has a frothy and dedicated fanbase.

It's funny how every 15 years or so there are people wearing crisp new Panthers tshirts and hats around South Florida for about a month. Other than that, you wouldn't know there was a team in the Everglades.

Correct. The Florida Panthers are the Phoenix Coyotes with a wealthier owner. If Alex Meruello owned the Panthers (which would actually be fitting as he is from Miami by way of Cuba), the Panthers would have been bankrupt by now. Instead, Vinny Viola appears content to take a bath on the Panthers almost every year without nary a complaint.

I guess we can finally determine why Patrick Kane skated like he was a cripple in the playoffs. He really was crippled. He just had a hip re-surfacing today

Drury really is hot garbage as a GM. And he is going hire John Hynes. The Rangers need a Rat Dog elimination program across the entire organization.
