Derrick Wilson sighting from ESPN:
Derrick Wilson (Anchorage, Ala./Hotchkiss School), a 6-foot-1 guard, will take his first official visit this weekend when he travels to Marquette according to Hotchkiss coach Fred Benjamin.
"The thing with Derrick is that he is college-ready," said Benjamin. "So he will have to look to see what's a good fit personality wise but also where he can come in and make an immediate impact."
Wilson is one half of a lethal backcourt tandem at the Hotchkiss School with junior guard Clyde Smith, who is also generating interest from the highest levels.
Smith will take an unofficial visit to Notre Dame early in November and is in the process of scheduling a trip to Northwestern as well a trip to see Boston College and Boston University.
"Clyde has been to Stanford twice for elite camps so he needs some other looks for his frame of reference," Benjamin said.
While Wilson and Smith return to lead the way for Hotchkiss, they have also added a trio of talented newcomers in Mike Tobey, Makhai Mason, and Christopher Campbell. Tobey is a near seven-footer who planned on repeating his sophomore year, but after scoring scholarship offers from Virginia, Pittsburgh, Miami, Xavier, Maryland, and Northwestern in the last six weeks, the big man has now decided to remain in the Class of 2012.
While it remains to be seen how that decision will impact those offers, Benjamin says his new big man has a world of potential.
"He's 6-11 and still growing," he said. "He just turned 16 in October and coaches see the tremendous upside with great hands, great touch, and work ethic."
Campbell is a skilled 6-6 sophomore four-man who has generated interest from Virginia Tech and Rutgers while Mason is a freshman guard who has had interest from Stanford, Minnesota, Notre Dame and Northwestern, according to Benjamin.
