Almost at the beginning of the season. Does anyone have any reports about how practice is going? I have moderate expectations for this season.

- Beat Seton Hall by 5 in a scrimmage. Up 20 most the game.
- Beat Brown yesterday by 5-10 points. Apparently rotated players pretty liberally all game
- Everyone is healthy at the moment including Post & Hand
- Claudelle Harris looks awesome
- A ton of optimism around the team

post says he's fully healthy

https://www.bcheights.com/2023/11/03/bo ... l-preview/

But the key for Post will be staying healthy. His foot injury that kept him out of BC’s first 13 games last season hurt the Eagles’ postseason chances later in the season after rough non-conference losses to Maine and New Hampshire. And his late-season ankle injury essentially ended any ACC Tournament chances despite Post suiting up against the Tar Heels.

“That’s the biggest thing, right?” Post said of staying healthy. “Being a 7-footer, sometimes it’s hard, like, with your body and things, but I feel good. I feel in great shape, and I’ll be there against Fairfield 100 percent.”

Provided they’re healthy, I like their chances at winning 20 this year. It’s about fucking time.

The team is 119 - 208 in ACC play in all of BC's ACC history. They have had double digit losses in ACC play ever since Steve Donahue's first season as HC. The last time this team has won 20+ games was 13 seasons ago. The last time BC was in the NCAA tournament was 15 seasons ago. I would LOVE IT if they won 20 but I'll believe it when I see it.

Winning 20 games is not a significant accomplishment.

Yeah, well, they are not winning 20 (not this year at least.) Anyway, with two thirds of January on the record books....

my top 10 (in order)

#1) UConn
#2) Purdue
#3) Tennessee
#4) Houston
#5) Texas Tech (especially after last night)
#6) UNC
#7) Kansas
#8) Kentucky
#9) Arizona
#10) Utah State

Yes guys I know, there are 5 teams West of the Mississippi river in my top 10. This is wayyyyyy west coast centric, way too Big-XII heavy. But for fucks sake, the Big-XII is where its at in men's hoops, at least this year it is. Moreover, I expect that the Big-XII will have at least 7 teams in the March dance. Combine the Big-XII with the Mountain West, that is 11 of the 64 slots on March 18th. I mean its mathematically possible that the Mountain West will have more teams dancing than the ACC!

There are no rational arguments to be made as to why UConn will not simply repeat as national champions. They are just too strong, too perfectly coached, playing as the perfect college basketball team particularly for tournament play. I know it stings (I hate UConn) but they have it all at the moment.

Come on St John's! Please prove that UConn is not unbeatable.

Grant needs to be fired or strongly encouraged to pull a Hafley. I’d rather have Jim Christian back and that’s saying something.

There's 3 keys to college basketball: (1) Recruiting, (2) Culture and (3) Xs and Os. JC was an decent recruiter, had a disastrous culture, but was a good Xs and Os coach. Grant is so bad in the Xs and Os realm that it eliminates his otherwise decent recruiting and above average culture building.

What all 3 post-Skinner curse coaches have in common is that they took a “this is the year where it all comes together” roster and ran it into the ground. Steve (DO)nahue’s 2013 team fresh off making noise in the ACC tournament was maybe the worst coaching job I’ve seen at BC. Jim Christian took that covid year 2020 team with a lot of talent and won 3 or 4 games. Earl’s flat tire season is 15-12 as it stands, which is head and shoulders above the prior two. He also hasn’t lost the locker room yet, which Donahue and Christian did officially in those seasons, and much much more demonstratively. It’s too early to call him a dud for me. Hire an X’s and O’s tactician. Nerds should be everywhere, shouldn’t be hard
