Demarr made a "Thank You BC" post on Instagram. Seems that is it for him on The Heights.

QP made a season-ending post on IG. Old friend Brevin Galloway stirred the pot by commenting "Last time in a BC uniform?"

Between retention and hunting for new pieces, Earl is gonna have his work cut out for him in the portal. Paging a bag man or two...

On DeMarr, I know we're not supposed to criticize the player, but there's no way he put in the work other guys did (especially after seeing how Glock, Karnick and heck even his own brother improved).

Post isn't for sure gone. He wants to be paid, so BC needs to come up with the NIL $. Keeping Post is probably a good litmus test to see how far BC has come as an athletic program.

Earl also needs to move-on from TJ.

Was Post the impetus for Blake James this past Friday emailing out a long-overdue missive to the general BC sports public asking alums to set up more McGovern Auto-esque endorsement opportunities through the Athletic Department, and then (surprisingly to me) giving a shout-out to the Friends of the Heights effort? That must have been a tough pill for Fr. Leahy to swallow, giving over control over who gets and distributes the $$$.
EDIT--or maybe Fr. Leahy really won't be the Decider much longer and James no longer will be rewarded for holding the line on "financial discipline", but rather will need to hold onto actual players.

On Demarr: His first two years I remember him playing more as an undersized small forward with most of his best moments coming near the basket on strong moves or rebounds. This year he played more of an outside shooting guard, and I don't think it fit his skill set as well.

Always a fan of Demarr but a really rough year w/injury & sickness -- couldn't get anything going consistently, which is unfortunate and hurt us. Conditioning at times seemed to be a problem, esp. in the last couple of games with some sloppiness, unforced turnovers, and lower defensive intensity. In the big picture, I thought he'd be much more of an offensive weapon this season. If he had been healthy and taken a meaningful step forward, the season would have been even better. Talents seem to be mid-range shooting (I do think he's a good shooter, even with that hitch in his shot), attacking/slashing to the basket, and otherwise athletic plays. Really could have benefitted by developing a 3-point shot over the past few years, at least one that could keep defenders honest. They played off him outside all year, limiting his driving. Some games disappeared; others forced it too much leading to missed shots and TOs. Also didn't quite get why he was (when he was playing) bringing up the ball so much. Regardless, was hoping he'd be back to take that step forward in offseason and next year. Alas.

Eli Carter 2.0!

All kidding aside, at this point I trust Earl with transfers/not being malcontents, etc. He's earned it at this point.

So what will the team look like in terms of personnel next yr? Anyone care to take a stab at a possible starting 5?

Guards: Zackery, Harris, Hand, Kelley, Payne
Wings: Aligbe, Madsen
Bigs: Post, McGlockton, Strong, Mighty, Hastings

Starting 5 of Zackery / Harris / Aligbe / McGlockton / Post looks pretty good. In an ideal world we might get a solid 3 man in the portal with our 1 remaining scholarship.

Key questions:
(1) Dependable scoring: hopefully Harris can be that guy, possibly Hand. Long scoreless stretches were a common theme last year.
(2) Who takes a leap this year? Last year was McGlockton. Aligbe has a high ceiling but had a tough second half of his freshman year. Would love to see him do it.
(3) Who can step in and contribute? Payne may challenge Kelley for a 6th man role - hopefully Hand is healed up and can challenge them.
(4) Big man development - we are thin if Glock or Post go down. I have a sneaky feeling Strong may surprise with his contribution. Fingers crossed on Mighty/Hastings, but they have Idy Diallo written all over them.

As much as McGlockton might be the most winning style player on the roster not named Post, a 3 guard lineup wouldn’t shock me at all. Either way you play it, looks like potentially a lot of depth:

Zackery / Harris / Kelley / Aligbe / Post
with McG, Hand, Madsen, Payne, Strong/Hastings providing solid minutes (in that order)

i think a lot of criticism of bc and the athletic dept is certainly warranted.

some of this came across as bitching for bitching sake:

Tyler Roche:
after expecting free tickets to a duke game:
“Not that we need to get free tickets, but I don’t know,” Roche, a former team captain who played at BC from 2006–10, said. “I thought it was crazy. Like, I should be able to go to any game.”

Football and hockey alums show that if you give money, BC will pay attention or at least comp you tickets.

But some of this is BC not focusing on these relationships. They never had a Gallup for basketball.

The above analysis feels about right to me. The Athletic Department also should have a position that handles alumni relationship for basketball it shouldn't be left up to the basketball coaching staff. James was also smart to avoid a back and forth in the media here.

Part of this is BC blows at this, the other part is who the fuck do Neville and Roche think they are? Christ, STFU and let me read the parts about Smith and Marshall and Dudley. Go play golf.
