Game 1 - Dartmouth

Tuesday Night at 8 pm on ACCX.

Dartmouth is picked 6th in the Ivy. I'd expect BC to struggle with so many new parts, but eventually win.

if electric avenue is not played some time during the warmups, this team, department and university fail as a whole (and a-hole)

Here we go Earl. Just because they share the same letters, I can assure you the ACC is nothing like the CAA. Get 'er done sir.

I'm expecting a lot of pain tonight and that the pain will get worse as the season goes on. I think the best case scenario is one of the freshmen is the next Jerome Robinson or Ky Bowman.

Whoever is teaching this team defense is doing their job well

Against Dartmouth. Let's keep things in perspective.

The team needs a collective trip to the barbershop.

The transfers all look like busts. :ace

The shot clock violation Boston College forced earlier this half was its first since 2017.

Seriously.

These type of teams beat BC all the time over the last 10 years.

Surprised Thompson isn’t getting any minutes.

It seems that it’s not just Dartmouth and they inherently suck at scoring, but also a very noticeable effort on defense. It’s nice they get to start with cupcakes and build confidence, as opposed to last year where they purposefully gave Jim an execution style schedule and it only got tougher

Two halftime thoughts

1. We're winning comfortably, and playing pretty well. That's cool!

2. In the unfortunate-but-also-hilarious words of my beloved grandfather, uttered when my brothers and several cousins and I all visited the day before he was mercifully allowed to die, "who the hell are all these people?"

Galloway is in some pain. Hobbled jogging up court for a few possessions. I wonder if he’s going to be this year’s recipient of the Deontae Hawkins / Andre Adams award

Watching Earl Grant randomly go to a full court press (an adjustment!) up 18 is beautiful. Just beautiful. Never mind that it forced a 10 second call, just seeing it is wonderful. Also, looks like we have something in Kanye Jones. At the very least he has a high defensive IQ, but he’s aggressive on the drive too

He didn’t look… let’s call it “great” vs Dartmouth’s reserves

CJ Felder with 2 points off the bench for the Gators. Wish he had stuck around.

Rich Kelly with 10 pts for the minutemen. Glad he didn’t.

ESPN {l Wrote}:BOSTON -- — New Boston College coach Earl Grant picked up a win in his first try, and then he enjoyed a victory dance in the Eagles locker room.

"He listened to our music, busted a move, and hyped us up," BC guard DeMarr Langford said after scoring 16 points in a 73-57 win over Dartmouth on Tuesday night. "He's got them old school moves. For me, I'd give it about an 8 out of 10."

"When we win, I like to have fun," he said. "Winning is hard, and I like to win. I think it's important to celebrate every victory that you have."

He was dancing tre. Old school moves tre. They must have been blasting Electric Avenue in the locker room.

Can't complain about much from last night. The defense and rebounding are so much better coached. Not a ton of high end talent out there, but you can at least see the vision.

The one guy I'd like to see much less of is Karnik.

If you can't play defense you won't play for this team. He looked pretty lost out there on defense. Clearly athletic enough to figure it out.

Spot on.

I watched this game based on curiosity. I feel like I have lost all affiliation with the program. That said, as a somewhat dispassionate observer, I think that was the most effort I have seen from a BC team since Craig Smith and Jared Dudley's time at the Heights. I think Dartmouth is like very, very, very bad. But, that isn't the point. The point is that there was effort from BC... which has been a rarity. I think future iterations of this program will be much like we have already seen: focus on D and rebounding... scoring merely an afterthought/byproduct. We should also get used to seeing 9 or 10 guys seeing regular minutes with few ever scoring more than 20. I don't necessarily think that is a bad system for BC to run.

Basically Wisconsin before Frank Kaminiski. I agree, that would be a very good system for BC to run.

I didn’t love that the Langfords were still out there with 2 minutes left, up 17. Lacking guard depth and losing one of those two is essentially accepting an 0-18 ACC. The right risk/reward analysis is just not there

I get that Galloway was hurt and Zackery fouled out. But running the wheels off the Langfords or keeping them out there is not the answer. Throw Jon Noel or Quinn Pemberton out there and call it an evening

Depth is obviously going to be a problem in Year 1 assuming any injuries.
