If we dont sign "crappy freshman" then we wont ever have a recruiting class. This is BC not Duke. Lets wait until 22 and we will get 4 and 5* players all over the place. 22 kids are breaking down the doors to come here.
This is a recipe for terrible.
Agreed the above is a terrible idea. By all accounts Thompson who was recruited by JC is still coming next year.
The ‘21 recruits could pan out, but had 0 interest from peer schools and we don’t need more Avery Wilson/Gabe Moton’s
From the time of Skinner, kids get counselled out of the program all the time. The transfer portal has been used by pretty much all those unproductive examples. I don't think there is much of a chance that either of these players will contribute (though I'm a little more hopeful about the PF than the G). But, if they are Wilson/Moton, they'll transfer just like Wilson/Moton. If nothing else, they offer bodies to run live scrimmages (which we were getting close to tapping into the New Plex All-Stars).
While I'm far from joining Electronic Avenue, we should acknowledge that, if the hire miraculously turns out to be a homerun, it will likely be because the recruits Eddy gets are overlooked by other programs. Perhaps, it is because he (and his staff) have a better eye for talent... or perhaps the type of players who buy-into his defense-centric system aren't a priority for today's shoot-first-ask-questions-later NBA (and pseudo-NBA known as college basketball). Skinner's best players were kids who did not garner comparable high major attention. Eddy's path (at least initially) will likely be similar.
