There’s still plenty of time between now and the early signing period in December, but for the program to currently have just one commit — three-star athlete Christian Zamor — is a bit concerning. What’s more: Zamor committed in January 2022, meaning the Eagles haven’t landed a prospect in this class in 16-plus months. It’s difficult to entice other prospects to jump into the mix when there’s no momentum or key prospect for a staff to recruit around. It’s not time to panic, but picking up the pace will be of the utmost importance this month.

Could this indicate Hafley's jumping no matter what after this season? He loses, he gets fired and goes to the NFL as an assistant coach or as a DC or a well-paid DB coach at a Power-5.

If he gets to .500 or above this season, he gives himself a chance at a NFL DC spot or a higher-profile NFL or Power-5 DC gig.

Neither of these outcomes hinge on his 2024 recruiting. So why waste time striving for a strong class? Bring in transfers to patch roster holes for 2023 (check), rely on Applebaum with the transfers to reach mediocrity on the O-Line (check), and use your time solely on what will help you this season.

These are class of '24 recruits. They won't even be on campus for another year. Who knows what our Defensive line will be like in fall of 2025 or 2026?

DL will be a strength this year with Okpala and Ezeiraku on the edge with presumably Rooks and Williams in the interior.
