Aazaar and Duggan will be co-DC ; Shimko will be OC ; Chudzinski transitions to a player coaching role as Associate Head Coach.

Paul Rhoads comes in to coach OLB.

EDIT. Duggan getting elevated to co-DC was a surprise to me. Hadn't heard anything about that until it was announced.

Shimko's elevation is ridiculous. I said midseason that McNulty should be demoted to TEs and Shimko elevated as a test run for OC. Instead, we spent the season drowning with McNulty and not even getting a test run with Shimko. This tells me that Hafley was hoping for Turner and was left at the alter a second time. I like Chud... but, his not taking the OC reigns speaks to why he was out of the game for so long.

Duggan's promotion is interesting to me and makes me wonder if AAR isn't Coordinator material. That said, I like Paul Rhoads a lot. Heck... I think Rhoads at DC and Chud at OC would be a homerun staff.

morehead is up to 240 lbs,

never struck me as a runner, seems like overkill

A QB getting stronger has less to do with running and more to do with being able to take a hit when playing behind a crap OL.

He was a beanpole last year and still weighed 228 pounds. He was essentially Mike Glennon (sans giraffe neck). He is now the exact height and weight as Josh Allen, Carson Wentz and EJ Manuel when they were coming out of college... and is almost 10 pounds lighter than Cam Newton was at his combine.

Rhoads is probably Hafley's best hire. I expect a big improvement in LB play.

nothing ground breaking but holy shit

@ADavidHaleJoint
Boston College ranked 131st in yards before contact/rush (0.32) and 129th in % of dropbacks under pressure (38.1%) in 2022, while the OL ranked 128th in blown block%.

I didn’t even watch it. This is probably the least excited I’ve been about Bc football in a long time. There was like zero coverage this spring other than like 2-3 days of interviews. BC athletic communications has even phoned it. A lot of starters aren’t even playing today. It’s an embarrassing effort all around.

Out: Funke, Cheek, Thomas, Griffin, Griffin, Mahagoney , Lillis, Tongronguo, Kline, Tate, Stoudmire, Battle, Batson.

Didn't see: Krajnovic, Clifford, Clemons, Farris, Terry, Hardy.

First OL: Trapillo-Taylor-Kendall-Hergel-Conley.
First DL: Shitta-Williams-Horsley-Ezeiruaku.

Hala was playing LB.

Morehead continues to be a turnover machine.

Post-spring game interviews

Playbook for spring game was supposedly 8 plays… 4 passing, 2 running, 2 end zone plays.

I'm not really sure what you can take away from that game. It barely looks like football. Couple of thoughts:

- Need to find a backup QB. The backups looked pretty bad and the starter didn't look much better either
- The OL looked less bad (probably nowhere to go but up from last year)
- I saw a lot of the same stupid mistakes as last year. BC commits a ton of mental mistakes (I feel like we lead the country in taunting/personal foul penalties) which is on the coach
- The depth is clearly way improved from last year

Overall the schedule is so easy I'm sure Hafley can get this to somewhere between 5-7/7-5. You can decide if that's acceptable or not.
