in honor and out of respect for tre, I am rooting for TCU in every game they play for the rest of the season, no matter how long it goes for them. He (and at least one of his kids) still have something to cheer for.

The difference is that Dabo has swagger. He played the game for Bama. The guys wish that they could have that much confidence! Dabo also has the advantage of never being a playcaller. So he carries himself as a head coach of the entire team.

Hafley, meanwhile, yes our players take after him because players always emulate their head coach. But this means they're very social and try to get everyone to like them. And they strike fear into no one. They go into battle without confidence because "hey, we're led by the nicest 5'8 coach in college football that played for Siena that hasn't been willing to be tough on anyone". Hafley also has the disadvantage of being way too far in the weeds of the defensive side of the ball (not to great success btw), leaving the offense under resourced, under attended and under practiced.

And by the way, the head coach has to be the leader that sets the tone. Good, tough minded perfectionist assistants will not come to work for Hafley. He won't take them even if they would. He starts talking all his positive culture crap and any good assistant is like "oh, this guy is going to get me fired. He'll have the players opting out of workouts and practices left and right. If I try to light up some hot shot kid he recruited, he's going to take me aside and say "don't talk to him like that". " Hafley isn't it. Most head coaches fail. He is failing. Every soft head coach at every level of football fails.

Both losses are on Dabo for not playing his best player. Just like Hafley and Jurk, Dabo could not get the visions of those first few games from 2 years ago out of his mind. Constantly chasing what-will-never-be-again.

UGA played like horseshit. Kirby settling for missed FGs instead of TDs and that D just getting riddled by Stroud (who they put no pressure on and couldn’t stay within 5 yards of WRs). That all changed at the end of the 3rd Q, when the SEC bought-off the replay official. OSU simultaneously was forced into a FG and lost their best player for the game… with a reversed targeting. They confirm the target or they don’t concuss Harrison, UGA never had the ball within a single score.

That said… HCRD comes off really awkward as an emotional cheerleader on the sideline. He is much better served as a stoic leader than an a demonstrative asshole.
