Doubleday hated Phillips and loved Bobby V.
The Wilpons hated Bobby V and loved Phillips.
With Doubleday out of the picture, Bobby V was a goner. Between the inept management of the Wilpons and their "give it all to Bernie" financial investing, the Mets are cursed until they sell.
Think about this for a second...
I am a Raiders fan who has no hope until Al Davis dies.
I am a Mets fan who has no hope until a bankruptcy court forces a sale.
I am a BC football fan who has no hope until Gene D gets in a car accident while not properly fastened into his booster seat.
And... while I hate the NBA... if there is a team I would casual root for, it would be the Nets... who were just sold to the Soviets.
No wonder I am such a miserable prick.

You are also from New Jersey. That can't help.

NEW YORK (AP)—Bobby Valentine is returning to ESPN as an analyst on “Baseball Tonight” for the league championship series and World Series.
ESPN announced Tuesday that the former New York Mets manager will assume a larger role in the 2010 season.
Valentine recently ended a six-year run as manager of the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan’s Pacific League.
The 59-year-old Valentine says he’s “been following major league baseball closely from afar, and look forward to delving back into those conversations.”
Valentine led the Mets to the World Series in 2000, where they lost to the Yankees in five games. He previously worked for ESPN in 2003.

I am glad that a non-Bills fan is as outraged by that as I was. Fuck Wade Phillips and Handsome Rob Johnson.

I know this is going to be blown up and everything but remind it's just the fact. With that preface *deep breath*
If it wasn't for one of the craziest plays in NFL history and a pass that still hasn't conclusively been determined a lateral or a forward pass, Rob Johnson leads the Bills to victory. Somehow revisionist history always eschews this fact. And Wikipedia says he led what should've been the game-winning drive with one shoe.
Of course this totally obscures the fact that the only reason Johnson started the game was because the Bills gave up a 1st and another pick for him and Ralph Wilson was like Al Davis is now, only Ralph was actually alive when he was making personnel decisions.
