Gotta be one of the most disappointing seasons by a sports team at BC (based on preseason expectations) that I can ever recall. A complete shitting of the bed.

completely unrelated but does anyone have any interest in a vrbo in omaha for the last two weeks of june? i hear vrbo's are very hard to come by

as an aside, i am very worried that the football team may do something similar based on the hype being received. thanks corporalshtickishment

Can you throw in a car into the deal? I would come to Omaha but can't seem to find a rental car.

you can get a 2021 jetta for cheaper than the standard car rental rate (avis, dick hertz, enterprise, etc.) - $52/day
Image

they also have a ford explorer for $75/day which is about half price of a standard rental (especially during cws) from dick hertz and his brothers and sisters that don't hate him

there is this new service called turbo where you can find these types of deals and more...

https://turo.com/us/en/search?https://turo.com/us/en/search?country=U ... me=10%3A00

plenty of places to stay on this new service called vrbo. most of them will be a 15 - 20 minute drive to the stadium, but omaha doesn't have much that's walkable other than hotels, so this is the route to go if you want your own kitchen and such

if you were putting odds on a wuflu outbreak for a team in the cws, rcc had to be the runaway favorite

Didn’t they get absolutely destroyed the first game? What changed since then.

School record 10-game winning streak. We'll know a lot more about this team after this weekend's series @ VPI.

Gambino has to win this season. Or at least he would at any other P-5 school.

Huge wins. Team seems legit.

The best player looks to be a grad transfer from Division III Roger Williams. Have a couple of former D-3 relievers pitching fairly well, too.

I agree. Although I am surprised that there seems to be so little interest in this team. I think the baseball team is a bright spot within BC athleticss.

Today's game against URI cancelled. Rhode Island site says it is due to travel issues BC had returning from NC. Anyone hear any details?

BC is currently in the process of adding more bleachers to bring the capacity to 2,500. NCAA officials are on site and they will begin pulling permits soon to bring other areas up to speed.

Looks very much like we didn’t deserve to host a regional. Troy demolished our pitching and we failed when it mattered most offensively. Our insistence on wasting valuable resources on baseball when we could direct it to lacrosse, a sport that we could actually compete in at an elite level if we put readily available resources into it, is another example of the staggering incompetence of our administration. When BC finds itself in the next five years or so playing football in a conference with Villanova—largely because our demotion was fair accompli and it was the only way to get the basketball program back into the Big East (instead of ending up in the A10 or worse)—these sorts of misallocation of resources will be one of the reasons why.

Most BC inning ever. 2 HBP, 4 BBs and an E6 to go down 4 to 0 without giving up a hit. Hafley can't believe it!

My ten year old started last night in his first playoff game. He walked 3 and HBP’d two other batters, but also logged 8Ks in 5 innings of work before hitting the mandatory pitch limit. I’d say that our pitching tonight was reminiscent of Littlest Dick’s performance, except my kid only gave up 2 runs over five innings and got the win (7-2). BC Baseball is a useless waste of resources. Scrap it and put the money, along with the $7 million in seed money Greasy Gene turned down, into men’s lax.

There have been discussions with Blake James about bringing back men's lax.

Just a reminder when we did have it we were awful at it. :ace

I wonder how they would make the Title IX numbers work? Don’t lacrosse programs have very large rosters? Not saying it can’t be done but that was always the biggest setback to it making a comeback. Would need to add a women’s sport with a large roster size plus matching scholarships.

We were terrible, but we gave no scholarships, didn't recruit--even locally, and the whole enterprise was treated like a glorified club team. Duchie and my good friend, Pretty Boy, was a middie for two years. He went from being buried at the bottom of the roster at Zoo Mass (he was not a scholarship player there) to being a first line middie at BC. He wasn't invited on to the team. It was an open tryout for everyone each year because, as I said, it was basically a club team. The coach, if I recall correctly his name was Ed, had a full time job as well.

Now, if the rumor is correct that Greasy Gene was offered $7 million in seed money to start the program back up and he went back and said "I need $14 million" and they promptly offered him that money before he admitted he couldn't do it, then there should be zero problem. The scholie limit for lacrosse is currently 12.6, about $1.5 million a year total cost, and the highest paid college lacrosse coaches--Danowksi, Trinity, Nick Myers, Kevin Corrigan--all make between $350 and $450k. Gary Gait is rumored to make $700k, although that figure comes from any angry letter written by Syracuse's swimming coach after the school recently killed the program. In any case, Corrigan and Kanowski's salaries were fully funded by endowments of $3 million made by alumni donors and di minimus contributions from the general athletic funds of Notre Dame and Duke (less than $75K per year). Each of those coaches clear an additional $150K per year off summer camp deals.

You put $4million in an endowment for a head coach salary and the other $10 million in an endowment towards scholarships and the program is as well funded as any program in the country. Go hire an elite coach and let him build the program.
