Agreed, 25 year old lefties with a cutter/curve combo like that are great. Will he be a 20 game winner? No but I can definitely see him developing into a good #3 on a winning club. For all the saber-nerds he got incredibly unlucky (xFIP, etc).
It's a good deal for both.
As for Pelf, thre's something to be said for taking the ball 30x and logging 200 innings every year.
But he's so maddening. I remember in the last year of Shea (2008), I went to my last 2 games there (oddly enough despite being only a week apart, they were playing the Braves both times & Pelf was pitching both times) and he threw back to back shutouts, he was untouchable. Then he'll go into slobber all over my hands, rub my brow, step off the mound go 30 seconds between pitches mode. I want to yell, you're 6'7" and throw mid 90s throw the fucking ball.
