manager of the cardinals is clearly one of the most glamorous positions in baseball. i'd argue it's probably the second best as the franchise is (arguably) the second most successful of all time (11 world series titles), in a place where baseball is the number 1 sport with a devoted franchise, and a fanbase/media that is extremely tame/forgiving.
so the question is who will be chosen?
p and s. i'd argue the pecking order for best managerial jobs is as follows:
1 new york - 20+ world series titles, tons of history, in a major market, 3rd most hall of famers
2 st. louis - passionate, but forgiving fan base with tons of history (2nd most hall of famers) and lots of success
3 dodgers- 6WS titles, 21pennants, 9th most hall of famers,
4 boston- 7ws titles, 12 pennants, 14th in hall of famers, passionate fanbase
5 cubs- big market; unfortunately their history is filled with failure; however, 4th most hall of famers,
6 giants- 1st in hall of famers
i gave the dodgers the nod over the redsox as managing the dodgers is a helluva lot easier than dealing with boston media/fans...
p and p and s. the hall of famer stats came from here.
